My surname is Hoover. The surname Hoover is the Anglicized
(to make or become English in sound, appearance, or character) version of the German and Dutch name Huber.
The name is derived from the Middle High German word "huober," meaning "owner of a patch of farmland" or "owner of a large measure of land". The term
"Hube" was used to denote a 40-acre hide of farmland. It is likely that the original bearer of this name was someone who owned such a farm.
I go to German Night at the german church in the city every year to celebrate my heritage.
